The young and lovely German player Antonia Lottner, who played the last Roland Garros junior final, has kindly taken some of her time to answer few questions for this blog. This interview is an opportunity to get to know a little bit better this very talented and promising player.
How did you get into tennis ?
I started playing when I was six years old. Tennis was the sport which I loved right from the start. From that point on I wouldn’t leave the court anymore.
You continue to improve your game and your ranking year after year. With your best results in junior Grand Slam in Melbourne and Paris and an ITF title I guess you’re rather happy of this year so far ?
It was a great experience to get that far in these tournaments, personally and for my game. I had a lot of difficult match situations but I managed them well – that helps me to improve my game and mental strength. So, yeah, I am really happy!
There are a lot of great German player on the tour at present. I guess it’s very motivating for you ?
It actually is a great motivation for yourself to see that this many German players are doing so well. It makes you want to get better and reach their level.
What are your goals at present ?
I will keep working on my fitness and on my game. I want to get better and my goal is to improve my WTA-ranking.
How would you describe your playing style and what are your strengths ?
I think my way of playing is very variable. I like to play from the baseline as well as I love to play at the net where it is hard to pass me. Also my height is a big advantage for a good serve.
What do you like to do to relax ?
To relax I listen to music, meet my friends and go shopping.
If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be ?
Ambitious, a cheerful person, reliable.
If the Genie asks you what are your three wishes, what would they be ?
My first wish would be to have unlimited wishes! – If that’s not possible I would love to play mixed with Roger Federer and go out for dinner with Ashton Kutcher.
